Objectives of the foundation:

a. Improving the film climate in Amsterdam and its surroundings, as well as participating in and contributing to enterprises in the field of film art;
b. Renting, leasing, operating, and managing registrable properties insofar as this contributes to the objective as stated in part a of this article.

Main lines of the current policy plan:

  • Objectives and activities of the institution
    • The foundation operates the Rialto film theater, which consists of the locations Rialto de Pijp and from September 2026 also Rialto Silo. The operation of Rialto VU Griffioen has been transferred to VU Griffioen as of July 2, 2026, and has since not been part of the foundation's operation. Both film theaters are open daily for regular film screenings; in addition, there are regular special programs and space for venue rental.
      Rialto aims to offer a diverse selection of films from around the world, with room for current themes. The current film offerings in Dutch cinemas are still dominated by films from the US and Europe, and Rialto also wants to present a different perspective. Therefore, the diversity of offerings and audience is our priority.
  • Ways in which income is obtained
