Film Education at Rialto

Looking for a fun film activity with a group of students? Rialto has a lot to offer, also for children and teenagers. From delightful film entertainment to enlightening education.

The regular children's program (BO)

Throughout the year, children can visit Rialto De Pijp on weekends, and even more often during school holidays. During school holidays, children's films are also screened at Rialto VU. We present the most enjoyable children's films, for the very little ones and for slightly older children. But it doesn't stop at just films: before the movie starts, children can enjoy crafting and coloring; everything is ready for them. There are also regular workshops: building with LEGO, making pancakes, creating birds, etc.

Special screenings (BO/VO)

In class, a specific topic is addressed for which that one film would fit perfectly. But that film is not showing anywhere. Or you are looking for a fitting film related to a specific subject, but you don't know any. In both cases, Rialto can help. We have the know-how to find the desired film. It could also be that you want to see a film with the class that is already playing or has played in the regular program. Or we can find suitable films for you in the Short Film Pool. Would you like an engaging side program? We can organize that too. There are many possibilities, all at our special educational rate.

The Student Film Festival

The Student Film Festival (SFF) helps secondary schools give their students the opportunity to put together and organize their own film festivals, in collaboration with local cinemas and theaters.

From the film program to marketing, from ticket sales to designing posters and logos, organizing a festival involves so many different aspects that each student can bring their own specific talent or interest to the overall project. Ultimately, the festival takes place in a local cinema or theater, with fellow students as visitors, often making it their first visit to a film festival.

The students are guided by a project leader from the SFF, so little is asked of the school and the teachers.
