New Delhi, 1975: the artist PK and Lotta, a Swedish woman, fall head over heels in love. When she returns to Sweden, he wants to see her again. He sets off on his bike, embarking on a 8000 km journey.
As a child, Pradyumna Kumar Mahanandia (1949), known as PK for short, was predicted that his future wife would come from a distant land – a prediction that would come true. PK was born into a family belonging to the lowest caste, but he had a talent for drawing, a talent that would later become his livelihood. In 1975, by which time he was living and working in New Delhi, he met the Swedish tourist Lotta von Schedvin, who asked him to draw her portrait. The two fell head over heels in love, but despite this, Lotta had to return to Sweden. When she failed to return as promised, PK decided to go to Sweden himself. The only means of transport he could afford was a second-hand bicycle, and it was on that bike that he set off on his journey of over 8000 km.

However improbable this story may sound, it all really happened. British director Orlando von Einsiedel retraces the journey with PK and tells this story – as romantic as it is compelling – through interviews and encounters along the way.
