On Wednesday 16 September, as part of the ‘Bioscoop 10-Daagse’, there will be a special screening of No Good Men at Rialto De Pijp. Special because director Shahrbanoo Sadat will be in attendance at the screening, which starts at 6.45 pm. She will be interviewed before the film.

Please note: the interview is in English.

Just before the Taliban return to power, camerawoman Naru sets out to cover stories with journalist Qodrat. Following her husband’s infidelity, Naru has lost all trust in men, but Qodrat turns out to be not as bad as she feared.
Afghanistan, 2021: the Taliban are on the verge of returning to power. Against this backdrop, Naru, the only female camerawoman at a major television station in Kabul, is trying to retain custody of her three-year-old son. This is essential, as her unfaithful husband no longer plays any part in her life. She wants nothing more to do with men at all, believing that, in her country, they are all no good. Then the opportunity arises to go out on assignment with the renowned journalist Qodrat to report on stories around the city. Their collaboration is rather rocky at first, but gradually a bond develops between the two. Could there be a decent man out there after all?

In her third feature film, director Shahrbanoo Sadat paints an authentic picture of life in Afghanistan, and she does so with great humour. Sadat co-wrote the screenplay with Anwar Hashimi, who also plays the role of Qodrat. Sadat plays Naru.
