In the mid-1960s, the slumbering Dutch film world was abruptly jolted awake by the duo Wim Verstappen and Pim de la Parra. Their company, Scorpio Films, produced provocative and shocking films – at least in the eyes of the bourgeoisie. After Scorpio went under, things went quiet around De la Parra for a while, but in 1988 he began working on his ‘minimal movies’ within the Ronald da Silva film collective – films made in a very short space of time for next to nothing. He eventually made fifteen of them; Dagboek van een zwakke yogi (Diary of a Weak Yogi), shot in ten days in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, was the last.
Successful writer Audrey and her husband Derek, a professor, are close friends with car mechanic Loes and her boyfriend, the painter Robert. When the two couples get together again, everything seems fine at first, but the atmosphere soon becomes charged with tension, minor irritations and, above all, hidden desires.
